GIWM congratulates Ms. Sabrina Li Guo, Cohort 2016 Graduate of the Professional Doctorate in Applied Finance, on getting her applied dissertation accepted for publication. Her work, titled "Empirical research on the impact of private equity funds on the value of small and medium-sized enterprises", will be published in the June 2023 edition of the Chinese Journal Management and Administration (ISSN1003-3475). Her work was directed by Prof. Harald Hau (University of Geneva) and Prof. Li Lihui (Tsinghua University).

In the article, the author argues that private equity funds have promoted the overall upgrading and transformation of core technologies in high-tech industries, and have gradually become an important force in China's capital market, playing a key role in promoting the economic prosperity of SMEs. To support this argument, the author uses the data of SMEs listed in Shenzhen Main Board and GEM from 2009 to 2019 to empirically analyze the impact of private equity funds on the value of SMEs. The results show private equity can greatly improve the efficiency and profitability of SMEs. Private equity investment funds also play an important role in corporate governance, which can bring a reasonable ownership structure.

Ms. Li, who benefits from more than 20 years of private equity fund practice, is currently working on an english publication. We support her in sharing her interesting work which has both theoretical and practical significance on the topic of private equity funds.
